Inquiry into food regulation in Victoria

The inquiry commenced on 14 September 2006, when the Victorian Treasurer, announced that the Commission would undertake an inquiry into food regulation in Victoria.

The Commission was asked to examine ways to simplify the current regulatory environment whilst still meeting the objectives of current regulation.

In accordance with the terms of reference, the final report was presented to the Treasurer on 10 September 2007.

The Victorian Government has released a report detailing progress in implementing its response to the final report.

The PDF document Government's response (pdf 485 KB) to the inquiry final report has also been released.

The Government released a PDF document progress report (pdf 1.87 MB) on implementation of its response to the final report in August 2009.
