The Victorian Regulatory System

 The Victorian Regulatory System

This report provides an overview of Victorian Government regulators of business, with a comprehensive mapping of the regulatory landscape. This landscape has evolved over decades, with the characteristics of the regulatory regimes and their administration partly reflecting the circumstances of different industries and occupations, regulatory practice prevailing when the body was established, and regulators’ different approaches to administration and enforcement adopted. This range of approaches presents an opportunity to learn from different experiences.

The Commission welcomes suggestions from readers on any ways in which this report could be made more useful, or if there are any significant regulatory functions affecting business that have been overlooked.

The Commission greatly appreciates the efforts of the staff of the Victorian regulators who assisted the compilation of this report.
