Regional inquiry
The Commission has concluded a public inquiry into regulatory barriers to regional economic development.
The Commission has presented its report to the Treasurer on 16 June 2005.
The Victorian Government asked the Commission to identify and assess the key regulatory barriers to regional economic development, identify ways to improve the design of relevant laws and regulations, and examine opportunities for simplifying advisory mechanisms and the administration of regulation.

The final inquiry report, Regulation and Regional Victoria: Challenges and Opportunities, final report, June 2005, has been released by the Treasurer on 15 December 2005.
The Treasurer has issued a media release, Government Acts on VCEC Regional report (pdf 35.1 KB).
The Government’s response to the inquiry final report has also been released: Government Reponse to Regional Inquiry (pdf 360 KB)
The Government released a progress report (pdf 138 KB) on implementation of its response to the regional inquiry in September 2007.
