Inquiries

Inquiries by VCEC Inquiries conducted by the Commission are determined by the Treasurer, in consultation with other Ministers. The inquiries process starts once the Treasurer sends the terms of reference to the Commission. The terms of reference outline the scope of the inquiry and the process of the inquiry, such as whether it will be a public inquiry and the reporting timeframe. The Commission prepares a draft report for public comment before finalising its report. The State Owned Enterprises (State body - Victorian Competition and Efficiency Commission) Order 2004 (pdf 101 KB) establishing the Commission states that "The Treasurer should publicly release the final report within six months of receiving it from the Commission."
